As I posted on Reason's same sex marriage thread, right or wrong the main base of black voters do not support same sex marriage and in my opinion are homophobic, yet the support of same sex marriage and gay rights is now a major plank in the Democratic Platform.

As reported in the Michael Moore's radical views thread, the Democratic party is moving away from the support of Jewish issues and moving towards support of the Palestines.

Also as Ed Koch is saying is the crass class, moral Jewish people are starting to look at the Democratic party and wonder what happened to it's character.

    Question.

When does the black and Jewish base of the Democratic party look around and say I have had enough of this shit?

I agree most black voters are against homo-marriage as are most voters overall. However gay marriage is not a part of the Democratic platform and both Kerry & Edwards are against it.

I don't think Democrats would tilt towards Palestine so much as recognize that the U.S. cannot be an honest power/peace broker in that region if we are 100% behind one side. If we show a little more balance, the process might show more success, but probably not...

Well, unfortunately we still live in an era where anyone who so much as questions U.S. policy towards Israel (and Israel's enemies) is branded an anti-Semite. Odd, especially coming from a people who for so long have preached about the horrors of intolerance.

I had always longed for the day when we would have a President who had the guts to stand up to Israel and get away with it.

Unfortunately, 9/11 ended that pipe-dream, at least for the forseeable future.
